About the tours

Guided bicycle tours to the Highlights of Holland

The tours I am offering are guided tours along the Highlights of Holland.
In principle there will be no luggage transport, but possible upon request.
All we need we can take on the bikes with us in original Ortlieb waterproof panniers and handle bar bags. The tours are therefore completely carbon neutral. We will be staying in high range hotels.

We will use as much as possible the unique Dutch cycle infrastructure: specially constructed bicycle paths; no cars, no motor bikes, no scooters.
If not available we will cycle on peaceful roads where we will only encounter local traffic.

In the Heart of Holland tour I will take you to the flowerbeds (when in season: end of March – mid May), Leiden, The Hague, Delft, Rotterdam, Gouda and back to Amsterdam.

In the Delta Works tour I will take you to Middelburg by train. From there we will cycle across the dams that protect Holland from flooding, to Rotterdam in two days, or all the way back to  Amsterdam in three or four days. We will cycle the famous Oosterscheldekering and visit museum Neeltje Jans. You will really experience how it is to live below sea level.

In the two day Zaan region and Waterlands tour I will take you across the IJ to Westzaan and then to Krommenie where we will cycle over the SolaRoad. Then via the world famous Zaanse Schans, visit the windmills of Schermerhorn and stay overnight in the historic and very picturesque village of De Rijp. The following day we will cycle across the UNESCO World heritage site Beemster Polder and visit one of the fortresses of UNESCO World Heritage site Defense Line of Amsterdam. Then to Edam, Volendam and take the ferry to the formar island of Marken. Via Waterland and Broek in Waterland we cycle back to Amsterdam. On a tree day tour we will take it a little bit easier and also visit Alkmaar.

In the three day Texel and North Holland tour I will take you to the Wadden island of Texel, including very picturesque Den Hoorn and fishing village Oudeschild. Optional is a visit to nature museum Ecomare and Naval base Den Helder.
On the second day we will cross with the ferry to the main land and cycle along the coast to the historic and very picturesque village of Alkmaarand, where we will stay overnight.
On the third day we will visit the windmills of Schermerhorn, De Rijpand cycle across the UNESCO World heritage site Beemster Polder and visit one of the fortresses of UNESCO World Heritage site Defense Line of Amsterdam. Then to Edam and Volendam. Via Waterland and Broek in Waterland we cycle back to Amsterdam.

If you want to see more of Holland you can add more days before or after this planned tour, for instance to the Zaan region and Zaanse Schans, Haarlem, Leiden, Delft, The Hague, Rotterdam and Gouda.
